My Story...
Fitness became an intrical part of my life when I was just 14. At the time, I was working with a personal trainer at my local gym with the simple goal of getting stronger for the upcoming hockey season — but very quickly, the gym became much more than just a place to improve for sport. It was my escape. A place to push, grow, and clear my head for a few hours a week. The most exciting point of my day was getting dropped off at the gym by one of my parents to go hit the weights.

By the time I turned 16, lifting had become a full-blown obsession, and I turned on the jets in order to build the best physique I could. I made very notable progress in my first two years, building both strength and a solid foundation of muscle mass.
But things changed rather abruptly — my progress stalled for over a year, and I was unsure as to why. My first thought was just that I needed to train more, because I figured: the more I do, the better results I'll get, right?
I couldn't have been more wrong.
I became constantly fatigued and exhausted, and sustained a few injuries, and it wasn't until then I realized I may need to turn off the jets, step back, and reassess what I was doing. Despite the hours I was putting in, I didn't just stop seeing results, I was digressing. At that point, frustration started to take over. Now, looking back at it, it makes total sense why I didn't progress. Outside of simply training with too much volume, I was lacking sleep, wasn't structuring my training programs effectively, and didn't take my nutrition seriously.

That year-long plateau sparked a new level of curiosity in me. I dove headfirst into the world of hypertrophy training and nutrition for physique development, learning all the intricate semantics behind training periodization, calorie and macro tracking, training intensity, biomechanics, recovery, and more. I read multiple books, articles, YouTube videos, and asked several questions to lifters in my local gym who had found success. Slowly but surely, things started clicking again — and the results followed. But it didn't come easy. It was a long and tedious process (much longer than I'm proud of) to get to where I finally wanted to be. In the pursuit, I still made nearly every mistake someone trying to build their physique can make:

-
I overate and gained unnecessary fat.
-
I underate and lost hard-earned muscle.
-
I trained too heavy too often and burnt out.
-
I trained too lightly and saw no change.
-
I ignored training with good form and got myself injured multiple times
-
I learned the improtance of training with good form, then obsessed over it so much that I didn't train hard enough and stalled again.

I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State University in 2021, and soon after became a certified personal trainer through ACE.

And that's why I do what I do.

I built Wholesome Performance with the hope of helping others avoid the trial and error I went through. Physique development can be a complex process with lots of moving parts, and I want to help you with the hard stuff so you can focus on what matters most--building a foundation that is set on consistent habits. I'll take care of the rest so you can keep the process as simple and stress-free as possible.
Whether you're new to lifting or years deep, I want to be the guide I wish I had early on — someone to simplify the process, tailor the plan, and help you train smarter, not just harder.

Let’s build something strong — together.
